Many gambling chats and news groups devoted to poker more and more frequently anxiously mention the so-called card-playing robots, known as “bots” in the nomenclature of the Web, that are being used on commercial gambling sites. Many players are sure that a number of gambling portals prospers due to the use of the special programs, able to beat an above-average player, not mentioning a beginner. In a traditional casino you can always guess the weak sides of your competitor, figure out his strategy and etc, in a virtual gaming house there is no telling your competitor is a human, but not specially created program, “substituted” for a real player.

If it is true, then widespread of poker bots capable of beating an average player would pose a significant problem for poker sector. Without creation of a special system verifying the identity and “humanity” of cards players in on-line casinos, the business could be significantly undercut. This is an opinion of players themselves, and gambling figures, interested in further development of on-line game industry.

Some skeptics say that, considering the complexity of the game and constantly changing strategies, creation of the program that can read opponentsí cards using special techniques of screen scanning and respond in real time is many decades away at best. The supporters of this point of view point to the variety of commercial programs that purport to help players, but with no actual effect. However there is a ready answer for all of these objections – in Canadian University of Alberta a computer poker research group has developed an artificially intelligent automaton known as “Vex Bot”. This robot is capable of playing poker at master level in a game with two players. The new system has already been used to test the frontiers of artificial intelligence, as it will be the basis for commercial poker tutorial program. As soon as the news about robot creation was published in media, the creators began to receive letters mentioning the danger of system use for the purposes of illegal gambling business.

Darse Billings who is lead designer of “Vex Bot” considers that probability of the use of bots on commercial sites is approximately 50:50, but he is also sure that all of the modern programs can unlikely match his creation, which is a result of a 10 years research work of a team of specialists.

Up to this point we’ve talked about Caribbean Stud Poker’s layout basics, typical hand play and some other entry-level information. Today, we’ll continue the discussion by venturing into payouts. After all, that’s the best part, right? We’ll start with Caribbean Stud Poker hand payouts and finish with a segment about progressive payouts. Let’s get started.

As you know from our previous segment, the dealer must qualify for you to be paid on your raise wagers. Antes are always paid even money. Here’s a handy listing of what raise wagers are paid when the dealer’s hand rank is an Ace-King or better.

One Pair: paid even money. Ex: $10 is paid $10.
Two Pair: paid 2x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $20.
Three of a Kind: paid 3x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $30.
Straight: paid 4x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $40.
Flush: paid 5x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $50.
Full House: paid 7x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $70.
Four of a Kind: paid 20x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $200.
Straight Flush: paid 50x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $500.
Royal Flush: paid 100x your raise. Ex: $10 is paid $1,000.

Here’s an important note. These payouts are not globally applied. Each casino may have different payouts. For instance, I once saw an online casino that paid 200x on the Royal Flush and 6x on a Full House. Shop around. That’s vital for the progressives.

The real money in Caribbean Stud Poker is won via the progressives. These payouts vary from casino to casino, so shop around to find the best deal. Some will pay less on a Royal Flush, but a lot more on a Four of a Kind. Also keep in mind that these payouts are always made regardless of the dealer’s hand. It’s $1 per hand to get locked into the progressives.

Here’s an example setup for a Caribbean Stud Poker progressive:

Flush: Payout of $50 – $100.
Full House: Payout of $75 – $250.
Four of a Kind: Payout of $100 – $500 (see, shop around).
Straight Flush: 10% of the current progressive jackpot amount. Ex: progressive is $50,000 so the payout would be $5,000.
Royal Flush: The big boy. It pays the whole progressive.

If you read any decent book on casino gambling, it will probably tell you that the progressive is a bad wager. But, they obviously haven’t been sitting at a Caribbean Stud Table and received a Four of a Kind only to see the dealer not qualify. To me, it’s a small price to pay for insurance.

This article is strictly referring to online poker games. It has nothing to do with reading the players. You can read here about some moments in the game when it is likely for others to bluff.

1. When they are still betting after a bad flop

Watch other player. Letís say they already did bet pre-flop and their position was not that good. Now the flop is on the table and it is poor, so you have to think they could be bluffing. So raising the bet, or re-raising it might make them think about it, because they probably stand zero chances with the drawings and they might fold.

2. The odds are with them

For example, when everyone folds. And especially when the pot is quite big, like a drawing missed and maybe even you are thinking of bluffing. Then, you should naturally think that they could also be bluffing. So call or raise, whatever you want, just donít throw away such a big pot.

3. When thereís only the two of you.

Itís considered the easiest bluff. They will think that if they got that far, they might as well get on with it. But donít be fooled and if you have a good hand go on and play it.

4. When the flop has no more draws.

From time to time players will bet here to get rid of the capability to obtain a draw, now and again since they really have got good cards. They can bluff or not, you must know the ones you are playing with.

5. When they bet and then checked.

When a draw just occurred, and it was not satisfactory, they are almost certainly just trying to go on without having much. Bet alongside them.

6. When they bet firstly, then for the second time and finally on the river they checked.

It is the same situation just with two bets instead of one.

7. If when betting they are expressing their pity for your money

They are just trying to intimidate you. Nobody wants to win less at poker. If they really had a hand, they would have let you go along so they could win more.

For a game where most players rarely consider luck, there are lots of superstitions in poker. When you mention that someone was lucky in that poker tournament they won, be careful of how you say it. For instance, if you mention that you were unlucky, your luck may never change.

Ok, that may sound a bit ubsurd, but poker is a game loaded with superstitions. Did you know that if you are playing a game with two seperate decks and you are asked to pick the deck, you should always pick the deck of cards that is furthest from you? Or, how about If you get a run of bad cards, you must sit on a hankerchief to break your bad luck? It’s actually considered good luck to blow through a deck of cards while they are being shuffled.

Some other fascinating poker superstitions are:

You can change the run of cards by walking around your chair three times.

The luckiest seat at the poker table faces the door.

The unluckiest seat has it’s back to a fireplace.

When changing seats, you should always do so clockwise.

The unluckiest poker card is the four of clubs.

It’s very unlucky to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.

Friday is a bad day for playing cards.

The 13th is also a bad day, regardless of what day of the week it is.

Live Online poker has truly exploded lately. There is an increasing number of websites everywhere where you can take a dive into the world of online poker. However, with playing comes the common and unavoidable world of addiction.

That is when the world of live online poker can be a danger for many people. There are more people every year that get addicted to gambling. They can become addicted to offline gambling or it can be online gambling that they become addicted to. Whichever one it is they can be looking at a tough time.

Itís not too hard to see why people can become addicted to gambling either. This is due to the fact that most people find an adrenaline rush when they play. The tentacles of live online poker do not discriminate. You could be a professional at the game or just a newbie; however since we are human we are prone to weaknesses. And once you have tasted the forbidden fruit of online poker you might find that you are hooked.

The addiction creeps up on you once you have won a game or two. Regardless of the amount, you might find that you want more and more. That is when people should be aware that the live online poker rush has gone from being a simple game into a serious addiction. The reality, however, is that when you are addicted, you are often in serious denial. Then it only takes something serious like ending up in financial distress to actually make you realize that you have the addiction devil on your shoulder.

The main problem for people who play live online poker is that they will see the flashing signs on the websites and get drawn in that way. Like moths to a flame. The human eye is prone to the lure of something new and interesting. The worse part for most people is that they see the promise of huge cash payouts, slogans that say ìWe will pay out $10,000 to the winner of our tournament.î These kinds of banners and advertisements can pull an addict further in to the world of online poker. Then the big cash payout promises become merely you forking out more money from your pocket and ending up with a mountain of debt.

However, it isnít all doom and gloom for live online poker players, many people that have signed up for the online poker websites have had a very good time. They havenít become addicted and they are only online playing occasionally just to kill some time. The main reason that these kinds of people donít get addicted to live online poker, is because they donít play for real money. There are websites that will let you play for real money whereas others are just for fake poker chips.

But if you think that you could be addicted then the best thing is to seek help. The best telltale signs of online poker addiction are debt and lack of social interaction. If you look at your bank statements and the bills piling up in the corner, then there is something wrong. Get the addiction problem solved before it further erodes your life.

Overall online poker is a great game to play, but you have to make the decision if you would like to play some serious poker and bet real money. Or if you would like to just play for fun. Many online poker websites will offer you money when you sign up that you can use for gambling. The choice is entirely yours, but the main thing to remember is to have fun.

The Ongame Company itself, as had been already mentioned, was acquired by the bookmaker BWin. Ongame Company owns not only the software, but a couple of large online poker rooms such as PokerRoom and EuroPoker. So it turns out, that namely these poker rooms, factually belonging to the one and only owner, are also using Ongame mobile casino games software for their mobile poker versions. Perhaps, mobile software already exists or will soon be developed for other rooms of this network, but I didn’t yet come across any.

So what kind of mobile poker software Ongame Company offers? Well, the game “weighs” about 250 Kb and includes likewise online and offline options where you can practice your poker skills: to take advantage of tournament features, playing at four different skill poker levels – from beginner to expert, and of course to win mobile poker bonuses.

But, surely, the most interesting option is mobile poker games. There’s only one game – Texas Hold’em, and only cash games. You may download certain options, for example, a four colour deck, 3D graphical game, a chat, detailed info, sound etc.

Before starting a mobile poker game you should filter the poker tables, select the game type (limited, unlimited), table size (full, shortened, one to one), limits, and also mobile poker for real money or play money, or offline tournaments.

Having done the selection, press “Get Tables”, you would find a list of the available tables – these will be the same poker tables as in the online version. If you select the option “show full tables”, you get all the tables available; if this option is not installed – only those tables which are not fully occupied. For every table, after it’s selected, you can acquire additional info (hands per hour, average pot, flop view percentage). Unfortunately, the current version lacks the opportunity to join a queue to a table; you can join a partly occupied or open and watch the game at a fully occupied table.

Visually a table is a diminished copy of the online poker room version – same avatars, same design, but you are able to see on the display only a little more than half a table at one and the same time.

By using a joypad you can navigate around the table, select the seat you want etc. Enter the amount to play for and confirm with the ‘OK’ soft button on your phone (If there is a minimum buy-in at the table, this will be displayed). Choose if you want to post a blind right away or if you want to wait for your turn by pressing [1] or [2].

As you can see, the screen inscriptions are quite small, and you have to be very attentive. Basically you have three keys for the navigation: 1 – fold, 2 – call, 3 – bet/raise. In case of unlimited poker, if you bet or raise you open the window, where you can enter a sum (or type it on the keyboard, or add little by little with a joypad).

One of the best online poker rooms on the internet is Paradise Poker. This site is popular, due in part, because there are constantly tournaments going on and a player will always find some high stakes game to enter. People have mentioned that this game has the most pleasing graphics and yet it is not crowded with all sorts of unnecessary icons. For those players worried about the security of their money, Paradise Poker has shuffle card reviews from a highly recommended company, Pricewaterhouse Coopers.

Second, with all of Party Poker’s efforts to get their name out there, they have certainly been rewarded by all of the players they have brought to their tables. Although they do have quite a large amount of customers, their customer service is nothing to brag about. Party is presented by the same people that brought you CardPlayer Cruises, including Mike Sexton. Every year Party Poker hosts a rather large tournament called the Party Poker Million.

Poker Stars has never had a time where there was not a large tournament going on that anyone could enter. This site is popular with most of the free roll players; the site offers some amusing aspects to the programming. Although the interface can appear rather chaotic with the extensive graphics people can use for their icons.

Most of the time, Ladbrokes has encounters worth watching, and for added reliability they are connected with the Hilton Group. Sponsoring a huge tournament in Europe where they don’t accept US players is an annual competition known as the Ladbrokes Poker Tournament. Although their software is not extraordinary, it can still provide one with hours of poker entertainment.

Poker Room offers a variety of options. Which include multi-table tournaments, as well as Texas Hold’em, Hold’em, Omaha, 7 Card Stud and a number of casino games. For those players worried about viruses, no download is needed in order to play on Poker Room. In addition to a good links section, players can play a free roll with play money, including tournaments.

Prima Poker is more of a group of poker sites rather than a single room and boasts a minimum wait time before the start of a game. With twenty-one sites to gather players from, it doesn’t matter what site in the group you connected from, you will be able to play a game of poker.

Full Tilt ranks further down this list, although the graphics may appear slightly childish, the site can really be a lot of fun, especially if the cards aren’t flopping your way. With the addition of Team Full Tilt, the site has some of the best players in the game and has earned its bragging rights.

Some players have learned how to mark cards as a way to help them win the game. Depending on the skill level of the cheater, marked cards can be obvious, or unnoticeable.

Sometimes the dealer will use his own deck of cards, or will get one prior to game play. Many cheaters have learned how to mark their cards during game play. To avoid having the marked cards noticed by other players, the cheater will usually make his marks so that they do not go all the way thru the card, because it would let light be seen through the card, thereby showing the mark.

Cheaters card markings are usually just small changes to the back of the cards. They may be scratches, change in design of the card, or possibly a bend in one corner of the card.

Marking the cards gives cheaters an advantage to their game play. They will most always mark all the high cards, or any other they card they think is crucial to the game.

Some cheaters prefer to mark their cards by using what is called shading. They will use a very fine ink to change part of the design on the back of the card. It requires the cheater to be very precise with his markings, but if he does a good job, no one but him will ever notice the marking.

Another technique many cheaters use is called daubing. Daubing uses a special form of ink and a small dauber. The cheat daubs the ink onto the back of the card, and the ink is invisible to the naked eye. Special sunglasses are required to see the markings. The kit to do this with can be purchased at magic or novelty stores.

Corner crimping is a method that many cheaters will use to mark their cards with. The cheater will see a card that he wants to mark and will then move that card away from the other cards and use his thumb or pointer finger to bend the corner of the card ever so slightly. He will be able to spot the marking during the game, and remember the card. Some cheaters when dealing can shuffle a number of cards to the bottom of the deck, and crimp the corners on all of them at one time.

Still other cheaters prefer to use thumbnail marking on their cards. The cheat will see a card he wants to mark, and then drive the end of his nail into the back of that particular card.
